TORONTO, CANADA

Artscape transformed the former Toronto Island Public and Natural Sciences School into a multifaceted retreat centre in 1999, consisting of 15 work studios, 10 bedrooms and studios, and a 5-room retreat facility in 35,000 ft2 of space. Until 2007, the centre also hosted an annual international artist residency program that provided 10 artists a year with 30 days of uninterrupted time to think, experiment, create and interact.
